Abstract
725,329. Inductors. PATENT MANAGEMENT, Inc. Feb. 27, 1953 [Feb. 28, 1952], No. 5599/53. Class 38 (2). An inductor comprises at least one coil-either coil 10 or coil 11 or both-through which pass two separate spaced closed rings 14, 15 of magnetic material, two members 16, 17 of magnetic material bridging the space between the rings, at least one of the members, 16, being a permanent magnet or being an electromagnet to cause magnetic fluxes in the two rings which link the coil or coils in opposite directions. The magnet 16 causes a flux to pass downwards in the limb of the ring 15 which passes through the coil 10, along the bridging member 17 and upwards in the limb of the ring 14 which also passes through the coil 10; a similar flux condition existing in the coil 11 if used. This opposition of fluxes linking a coil renders the inductance of the inductor less sensitive to changes in the value of an alternating voltage applied thereto; the value of inductance being variable by movement of the magnet relative to the rings or by variation in the value of the direct current flowing in the energizing coil of the electromagnet.
