Abstract

724,960. Bicycle tyre pumps. MEHTA, S. S. A. March 6, 1953, No. 6206/53. Class (1). Bicycle tyres are inflated by reverse operation of the driving chain of the bicycle, by means of a pump comprising a cylinder 11 mounted on the frame, and having a connecting rod 14 connected to a crank 16 driven by a sprocket 18 engageable with the drive chain 19. The sprocket 18 is rotatable in a bearing mounted on brackets 21, 22 which are adjustably clamped to the frame whereby the sprocket can be raised or lowered into or out of engagement with the chain 19. In another embodiment the cylinder is pivoted at one end to the frame and the piston rod is connected to the crank and the sprocket is adjustable in a slot in a stay secured to the rear hub axle.
