724,487. Multiplex radio signalling. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. May 20, 1953 [June 14, 1952], No. 14183/53. Class 40 (5). In a television receiver the output from the detector 15 comprises the picture signal, which is amplified in stage 16 and fed to the reproducer through terminals 40, and a 4.5 Mc/s. carrier, frequency-modulated by the sound signal and produced by the interaction in the detector 15 of the sound and vision I.F. carriers whose difference frequency is 4.5 Mc/s. The sound carrier is derived from the stage 16 and fed through a limiting amplifier 18 to the frequency demodulator 19, the derived audio signals being fed to the reproducer through terminals 66. According to the invention, the stage 16 contains a valve 31, the cathode impedance of which comprises a circuit 42 resonant to the sound carrier and producing negative feedback at this frequency, while the sound carrier is fed to stage 18 from the same resonant circuit. In order to establish the correct impedance relationships, the cathode of valve 31 is tapped down at point 67 on the inductance 68 of the circuit 42, the impedance at this point, however, being greater than the reciprocal of the transconductance of the valve.
