Measured quantities.-Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of liquids, such as hot drinks, comprises an insulated container 2 supported inside a casing 1 and connected through a tap 6 and detachable hose coupling or loose nut 5 to a receptacle-operated measuring device 4, which is preferably coin-freed. The inlet valve to the measuring chamber 7 comprises a piston 11 sliding in a ported cylinder 12 and the outlet valve comprises a member 17 seating on a valve seat 18 and having a cylindrical extension 20; a stem 16 on the piston 11 bears on the outlet valve member 17 and is encircled by a spring 48 that biases the inlet valve to the open position and the outlet valve to the closed position. A lever 25 is pivoted at the bottom of the measuring chamber and is connected by a link 27 to a sliding nozzle 23 so that, when a cup is placed below the nozzle, the pivoting of the link raises the nozzle 23 and thus a cross bar 24 engaging a spring-pressed plunger 22 on a stem 21 of the outlet valve member 17 raises both valves, closing the inlet valve before the extension 20 clears the outlet valve seat. The level to which the chamber refills is controlled by a float-operated air valve 40. A cover 34 provided over the top 6 can be locked to prevent access to the tap. A window 10 is provided on the chamber and a counter mechanism may be connected to the coin-freed device. Coin-freed mechanism.-A pivoted lever 29 normally blocks the path of a rod 31 connected to the operating lever 25 but is pivoted out of the way by the weight of a coin falling down a chute and is held in a lowered position by a spring-loaded catch 32. When the operating lever is moved, the rod 31 pushes the latch back to allow the lever 29 to return to its original position when the operating lever is released.
