Abstract

The invention comprises dyestuffs of formula <FORM:0722477/IV (c)/1> wherein nucleus I may be further substituted. They may be made by coupling one mol. proportion of tetrazotized 4,41-diamino-3,31-dialkoxy-1,11-diphenyl with one mol. proportion of 2-hydroxybenzene-1-carboxylic acid which may be substituted in the nucleus and with one mol. proportion of the monoazo component obtained by acid coupling of diazotized 5-nitro - 3 - amino - 2 - hydroxybenzene - 1 - carboxylic acid with 2-amino-5-hydroxynaphthalene - 7 - sulphonic acid. Fibres of cotton and regenerated cellulose are dyed dull violet shades which turn black after coppering. In examples, (1) 4,41-diamino-3,31-dimethoxy or diethoxy-1,11-diphenyl are tetrazotized and coupled with 2-hydroxybenzene-1-carboxylic acid which may contain 3- or 4-methyl or 3-chloro groups and the product coupled in the presence of pyridine with the monoazo compound obtained by acid coupling of diazotized 5 - nitro - 3 - amino - 2 - hydroxybenzene - 1 - carboxylic acid with 2-amino-5-hydroxynaphthalene - 7 - sulphonic acid and in (2) cotton is dyed with the dyestuff of (1) and coppered with copper sulphate or a cation active copper complex compound.
