Abstract
A porous solid material for packing gas containers comprises a mixture of equal parts of a substance with a charcoal base of size range 10 to 15 mm., a similar substance of size range 0.1 to 5 mm., and a non-hygroscopic powdered substance inert to the other substances present, e.g., an oxide or carbonate of zinc of size range 1 to 10 microns. The material is prepared by crushing charcoal base substance with the powdered inert substance and adding to the fraction less than 5 mm. in size charcoal base substance of the 10 to 15 mm. size range. Alternative oxides and carbonates are those of titanium magnesium, aluminium, calcium and silicon.
