720,610. Agglutinated fibrous sheet materials. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. May 23, 1952 [Dec. 20, 1951], No. 13159/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 140. [Also in Group XXVIII] Glass fibre, metal wool, string or shredded paper forming a gas-filter mat (see Group XXVIII) is coated at least in part with solid polyethylene capable of developing an electrostatic charge. The mat is coated by dipping in a hot solution of polymer in toluene or xylene, withdrawing and drying at 158‹ F. to remove all traces of solvent. Alternatively powdered polyethylene is sprinkled on a mass of fibres which is then heated to melt the powder. Specification 677,795, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
