Abstract
719,721. Warp tension devices for circular looms. FAIRWEST (U.K.), Ltd. Feb. 23, 1953 [Feb. 22, 1952], No. 4720/52. Class 142(2) A warp tension device comprises. a number of rollers each carrying a section of a warp, each roller being spring-loaded in one direction and being able to move to lie at an angle to the threads in the plane of the warp. Each thread may have an additional tensioning means carrying an electric contact in the circuit of a stop-motion. In one embodiment, Fig. 2, each section of the warp passes over a roller 14 mounted on rods 15 and loaded by springs 18. The rods 15 pass through holes in brackets 16 with clearance to allow the roller to lie at an angle to the threads. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, a roller 26 is mounted centrally on a rod 24 which is held in a housing 22 by a rubber bush 21, the housing being loaded by a spring 27 and pivoted at 23. The roller may be curved. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7, a roller 33 is mounted on two spring-loaded arms 35 pivoted at 36, the ends 34 of the roller having sufficient clearance in the arms to allow the roller to lie at an angle to the threads. Stop-motions. Individual threads may be tensioned by a wire 41, Fig. 1, loaded by a spring 42 and, upon weft failure, the wire 41 is drawn down and engages a contact 46 and the loom is stopped. Alternatively (see Fig. 3) a drop pin may be suspended on each thread and arranged to complete a circuit on thread failure to stop the loom.
