Abstract

A display comprises natural plant members, e.g. tulips, roses, carnations, pear blossom, ears of green corn, puffballs, with their moisture content and cell structure substantially intact, a thin, impermeable, chemically inert, waterproof coating, e.g. a coating of a mixture of microcrystalline paraffin wax and mineral oil solidifying uniformly at 110 DEG F to at least 100 DEG F from the molten condition, which may be coloured and which adheres permanently to, and seals, those surfaces of the plant members to be exposed to view, a transparent container which encloses the members, and a container filling of clear, transparent liquid, e.g. distilled water which has been heated to drive out air and then treated with ion-exchange materials, such water containing propylene glycol, or such water in which sodium bisulphite or sodium ethyl mercurisalicylate is dissolved.
