718,507. Actuation of switches. WOLLENHAUPT, J., and M'AECKER, K. May 30, 1951 [Oct. 1. 1948; Oct. 2, 1948; March 18, 1949], No. 12801/51. Class 38(5) [Also in Group XXII] Feeding means for the movable table or carriage of an electrically controlled machine tool (see Group XXII) comprises a high-speed motor and a feeding motor both operating through a planet gear and against a spring 23, the spring being pre-tensioned to the maximum permanently allowable load torque of the motors and also being arranged to operate in two directions on reversing or stopping switches 24, 25. The feeding and high-speed motors rotate a shaft 19 and a shaft 7 respectively. A shaft 2 is connected to the machine member to be fed. The shaft 2 carries a freely-mounted wormwheel 1 engaging a worm 11 which can move axially but is restrained by the spring 23 acting through a lever 20. When the maximum torque is exceeded, that is, when the table has been fed up to a fixed stop on the machine, movement of the worm 11 and the lever 20 actuates one of the switches 24, 25 to reverse or stop a motor.
