Class 34(2) Apparatus for drying samples. of substances to determine their moisture content comprises a metal block B having an upstanding rim R, cavities to receive close-fitting containers F containing the samples and a bore S communicating with a union D by means of which air can be evacuated, and a glass plate A fitting closely on the rim R. Each container has a closely threaded screw lid. Q which allows the escape of air and water vapour but retains any particles of the sample thrown up by ebullient vapour formation. The block B also has a bore T and a support C for a thremometer around which support may be arranged a second thermally insulating tube to serve as a handle for the apparatus.
