Abstract
718,057. Regulating. HARTUNG, W. March 10, 1952 [March 13, 1951], No. 6130/52. Class 7(6) A throttle valve 5 is actuated from a throttle pedal 1 through a lever system in which the transmission ratio between a first lever 6 operated by the pedal I arid a second lever 3 connected to the throttle valve is altered by shifting the point of action of the first lever on the second lever, the first lever acting on the second lever through two spaced contact members 10 11, so arranged that on one side of an intermediate position one contact member acts upon the lever 3 and on the other side of the intermediate position the other contact member acts upon the lever 3. The lever 3, pivoted at 2, is actuated by the arm 6, integral with the pedal 1, through a pivoted lever 7 carrying the rollers 10, 11, contacting the levers 6, 3. At small throttle openings, Fig 3, the roller 11 contacts the arm 6 midway along its length and the roller 10 contacts the lever 3, whereby a relatively large movement of the pedal 1 is necessary to produce a small movement of the throttle valve. At large throttle openings, Fig. 5, the roller 10 contacts the arm 6 at its end and the roller 11 the lever 3 at a point near its pivot, whereby a small movement of the pedal 1 produces a relatively large movement of the throttle valve. In a modification the lever 7 carries a third roller which engages the arm 6, the rollers 10, 11 only engaging the lever 3. The lever 7 may be provided with cams in place of the rollers 10, 11.
