716,946. Painting books. TUCK & SONS, Ltd., R., and TUCK, D. A. Oct. 27, 1953; [Oct. 27, 1952], No. 26987/52. Class 16 A painting book of the kind containing a set of colouring pigments to be used for painting in the book after application of a wet brush thereto, comprises one or more pages having a shiny surface imprinted with the outlines of a picture and/orlettering of substantially the same colour as the shiny surface and with a rougher texture such that when the surface is rubbed by an appropriate medium such as a pencil, the outlines show up, the set of colour pigments then being for use in colouring the picture outlined. Pages 3 having one side formed with the shiny surface and the other side having ordinary letterpress, are secured by staples down their centre line 4 to a front and rear cover 1, 2, the shiny surfaces being arranged so as to face each other. As shown on page three, an outline 10 has been made by shading with pencil lines 11. The set of colour pigments 12 separated by spacers 13 are provided on a support 5 folded at 6 and secured by the staples, the support 5 being shorter than the pages 3 to show a title 9a on the front page 9 and the support 5 being detached by tearing when painting is to be done. The front cover 1 is ornamentally shaped and has titles, pictures and coloured spaces corresponding to the contents of the book and its set of pigments 12. Specification 655,794 is referred to.
