Abstract

716,507. Printing-surfaces. MIDDLETON, J. Nov. 13, 1952 [Nov. 16, 1951], No. 26937/51. Class 100 (2) A metal mounting quad 1, Fig. 1, of height 0.846 inches, with a width in one direction of 3 ems (36 point), and having portions 2 measuring 1 em by 1 em cut out, forming a tenon 3, the overall width in the other direction being also 3 ems, so that the width to the tenon is 2 ems. A base for mounting plates or halftones is formed from sixteen such quads 1, Fig. 3, the spaces being filled by wooden quads 4. The quad is cast by using a longer mould blade in an existing mould, in the example described the blade being one pica longer to allow for the ejection of the quad.
