716,185. Pile carpets. MACKAY & CO., Ltd., H., MACKAY, L. H., and MACKAY, J. May 19, 1952 [May 24, 1951], No. 12204/51. Drawings to Specification. Class 142(4) A pile carpet having a plain, unpatterned appearance, is formed with narrow channels, produced by omitting pile, in order to reduce pressure marking. The pile, at those portions of the margins of the pile bearing areas from which the pile tends to lean, as the result of the method of manufacture of the carpet, may be of greater density than elsewhere, thereby reducing the tendency of the pile to lean in any one direction. If there is no general tendency of the pile to lean the greater than normal density pile areas may be arranged evenly around the margins of the islands, or may form the central portion. Specification 656,845 is referred to.
