Abstract

714,146. Changing frequency; changing number of phases. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS-GES. May 3,1950 [Oct. 1, 1948], No. 10974/50. Class 38(2) A frequency doubling circuit arrangement of the type comprising two sets of premagnetized inductances, has the primary windings thereof connected in such fashion that, on the one hand, a balanced load is presented to a multi-phase supply system and, on the other hand, the sum of the doubled frequency voltage induced in the direct current windings is zero. The primary windings P1, P2, P1<SP>1</SP>, P2' of two sets of inductances I, II, are connected in Scott fashion to a three-phase supply, an inductive potentiometer P being used to produce a tapping point for such connection. The direct current windings G1, G2, G1<SP>1</SP>, G2<SP>1</SP> are all connected in series to a direct current source B, the series connections being such that, whilst the secondary windings A1<SP>1</SP>, A2<SP>1</SP> are connected in the same sense as the D.C. windings G1<SP>1</SP>, G2', the secondary windings A1, A2 are connected in the opposite sense to the D.C. windings G1, G2, the windings A being all connected in series giving an output of frequency double that of the three-phase supply. The power factor of the arrangement may be improved by the use of a condenser C. The inductive potentiometer P may be dispensed with by suitable arranging the primary windings of one set of inductances. Further the secondary windings of each set of windings may be connected in parallel to the load. Regulation may be effected by variation in the direct saturating current.
