Abstract
713,390. Rotary snow ploughs. SNOW-BOY AKT.-GES. Aug. 6, 1952, No. 19855/52. Class 107 A rotary snow plough is of the kind having at least one throwing wheel and at least one cutter cylinder arranged in front of the throwing wheel, the cutter cylinder being at least as long as the diameter of the throwing wheel and having cutter blades whose cutting edges extend circumferentially and obliquely to the cylinder axis, the cutter blades being symmetrically disposed on opposite sides of the middle of the cutter cylinder. It is characterized in that the cutter blades 8 extend in staggered relationship circumferentially of the cylinder and are arranged to provide a free passage in the direction of the throwing wheel 14, each of the blades extending over approximately half the periphery of the cylinder and over approximately half the length thereof. Some portions (8e) of the cutter blades may be forwardly inclined in the direction of rotation of the cylinder, and some portions (8f) of the blades are rearwardly inclined. The throwing wheel has a conical or other member increasing axially from front to rear so as to throw the snow outwardly into the flared buckets 14<SP>1</SP>. The cutter cylinder may be horizontal or inclined and several cylinders may be superposed or arranged side by side. The apparatus as shown rests on wheels 2 and skids 21 and is powered by a motor 4 driving through axle 10 and the differential 11. It may, however, be constructed as an appendage to a tractor or other motor vehicle. The throwing wheel is surrounded by a casing 13 and a spout 15 directs the ejected snow.
