Abstract

711,106. Stair treads. SMALL & PARKES, Ltd. July 7, 1953 [July 8, 1952], No. 17116/52. Addition to 645,569. Class 20 (4) The metal frame of the stair tread of the parent Specification is replaced by a hard P.V.C. frame with one or more grooves in each of which a wearing strip of pliable plasticized P.V.C. is inserted and, if desired, secured by an adhesive. The rigid frame may be made by hot extruding a mixture containing 100 parts by weight P.V.C., 5 parts plasticizer, 1 part stabilizer and 2 parts pigment. The mixture from which the wearing strips are extruded contains 25-75 parts by weight of mixed plasticizers consisting of dioctyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate and dibutyl sebacate and 2 parts lead stearate or silicate as stabilizer and ¢-5 parts pigment with 100 parts P.V.C.
