Abstract
710,823. Electromagnetic interrupters. WESTINGHOUSE AIR BRAKE CO. July 10, 1952 [Feb. 27, 1952), No. 17397/52. Class 38(5) A pendulum for a code-signalling relay comprises a flat flexible arm 30, free to vibrate perpendicular to its width and having two springs 45, 46 on its broad faces to prevent torsional vibrations. The springs are fixed between a weight 36 and armature 26, Fig. 6, or, in the modification of an existing pendulum, by bends at the lower ends contacting screws holding extra weights 42, 43, Fig. 3. The pendulum has an armature 26, 39 at its lower end, causing the pendulum to swing in response to magnetic attraction from poles 28a of an electromagnet 27, itself energized by the periodic closure of series-connected contacts 22, 20 and 21, 23 by the pendulum, Fig. 8 (not shown). A strip 13, carrying a series of such contacts operated simultaneously by the pendulum, is itself swingably supported from the plate 1 by flexible strips 14.
