Abstract

710,363. Automatic temperature control systems. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd. July 4, 1952 [Aug. 4, 1951], No. 18517/51. Class 38(4) To prevent undue temperature rise of aircraft de-icing equipment when icing conditions disappear, an electric heating element 1, the resistance of which varies with temperature, forms with resistances 3, 4, '5 a bridge network 2 which is supplied from a D.C, or A.C. source e, f through contacts of a relay 6. Relay 6 is momentarily operated at predetermined intervals by cam-operated contacts 8 and if element 1 is below a temperature determined by the setting of resistance 5, unbalanc of bridge 2 energizes a relay 10 to maintain relay 6 energized until element 1 reaches the predetermined temperature to balance the bridge. Thereafter the system functions periodically to restore element 1 to the predetermined temperature. A rectifier 11, necessary when the supply is A.C., also prevents operation of relay 10 if the temperature of element 1 should get above the predetermined value when the supply is D.C.
