Abstract
710,204. Waveguide switches. DECCA RECORD CO., Ltd. Feb. 5, 1953 [Feb. 14, 1952], No. 4000/52. Class 40 (8) A waveguide switch comprises four co-planar guides 1, 2, 3, 4 meeting at a junction, guides 1, 4 being arranged in a straight line and guides 2, 3 symmetrically on either side of 1 and 4, guide 4 being terminated by a short circuit, e.g. an adjustable piston 6, and a movable switch member 5 being provided to connect guide 1 to either of guides 2, 3, guide 4 being connected to the unwanted guide. The piston 6 is positioned so that energy leaking into the dummy guide 4 is reflected back to cancel energy leaking into the unwanted guide 2 or 3. An attenuator may be arranged in the guide 4 if the energy leaking into this guide is greater than the energy leaking into the unwanted guide 2 or 3.
