Class 106(5) [Also in Group VI] A measuring vessel 44, which serves also as a handle for a cover 41 for an electric heating vessel (see Group VI), comprises a calibrated cylinder which is preferably of a transparent plastic material, the cylinder 44 enclosing a piston 56 mounted on a screw-threaded spindle 53 which is supported at one end in a spider 51 and at the other carries a knob 54, rotation of which serves to vary the position of the piston 56 on the spindle 53 and hence to predetermine the working volume of the cylinder 44. In use a predetermined volume of water is poured out of the cylinder 44 into the heating vessel to predetermine the heating period, which is terminated automatically when the water is totally evaporated.
