Abstract
708,933. Automatic exchange switches. EK, F. May 24, 1951, No. 12233/51. Class 40 (4) In a crossbar switch, each horizontal row comprises a strip 109, Fig. 1, having integral flexible fingers 3128 constituting the movable contacts, and each vertical row comprises a strip 311 having integral projecting blades constituting the fixed contacts. In each horizontal row, strips 109 are mounted in members 329, 305 and are located by crimps 110, and the flexible fingers 3128 forming a contact set are interconnected by members 304. The vertical strips 311 of a row are interleaved with insulating sheets and the contact blades are cut and bent out of the strips leaving apertures through which are passed the blades projecting from other strips 311. The vertical strips 311 are secured to a support 319 having slots 331, the movable contacts 3128 normally resting on the bottom of the slots and the fixed contact blades being held at the top of the slots. In a modification the vertical strips 311, Fig. 3, are rigid so that the support is dispensed with. The movable contacts normally rest against insulation 503 on the back of the contact blades 504.
