Class 51 (1) A wall for a hot gas chamber or passage comprises heat-insulating material 10, sheets 12 of expanded metal arranged at the outer side of the material 10 in adjoining sheets having inner and outer overlapping edge portions 14 forming a joint therebetween and a layer 16 of plastic heat-insulating material within which the sheets 12 are embedded and which is provided with a groove 17 formed therein outwardly of the metal sheets along the joint between the sheets. An additional layer 20 of asphaltic sealing compound is applied over the layer 16.
