Abstract

The invention comprises quaternary compounds of the formula <FORM:0708859/IV (b)/1> in which R represents an alkyl, aralkyl or aralkenyl group and Hal stands for chlorine, bromine, or iodine. They may be prepared by reacting diphenyl-(2-piperidino-ethyl)-acetamide with a halide of the general formula R.Hal. In an example: (1) the metho-iodide of diphenyl-(2-piperidinoethyl)-acetamide is obtained by heating the base with methyl iodide in isopropyl alcohol. In a generally similar manner there are prepared from the appropriate halides the (2) metho-bromide, (3) methochloride, (4) etho-bromide, (5) benzylochloride, (6) cinnamo-bromide, (7) cinnamo-chloride.
