Class 6 (2) A protector, for preventing damage by birds to the tops of apples and pears, comprises a disc 1 of sheet material, having a hole 2 in its mid-portion and a slit 3 extending to its edge 4. The disc, which may be of metal foil or a transparent or opaque plastic material, is preferably circular with a second, shorter, slit 5 parallel to the first. The slit is opened to allow the disc to be slipped around the fruit-stem and the ends are overlapped to form a shallow cone, Fig. 2, one end being passed through the slit 5 and bent over, as at 7. Alternatively, the overlapped ends may be stapled.
