Class 132(2) The container for the marking material of the ground-marking machine of the main invention comprises a plurality of side-byside component containers hinged together so that they can pivot in a plane at right angles to the direction of travel to accommodate themselves to the road camber. As shown a frame 2 provided with wheels and handles has pivoted thereto levers 11 located one at each side, urged downwardly at their front end by springs 15 and formed at their front ends with slots 13. They are joined by a rod 10 sliding in sleeves 10a secured to the levers to allow the latter a limited independent motion and the rod is lowered to raise the levers by rotation of a sleeve 7 on the handle and connected to the rod 10 by links 8, 9. The container components 21 are joined by a hinge 22 and have slits along their trailing edges to allow egress of material, the thickness of which is adjustable by a plate 24 on each component 21. The front lower edges are inclined upwards at 23. The leading end of the gap between the components is excluded by a plate 26 welded to one and a sleeve 27 is welded to one of the abutting ends of the plates 24 and embraces the other, the adjacent end walls of the components being notched at 25 to allow the material to flow into the gap between them. The slots 13 engage studs 14 to locate the components and a plate 17 on frame 2 carries an angle bar 18 having a depending plate 20 and pin 19 which abuts the trailing side of the container and fits in the gap between the components respectively. The angle bar 18 lies over the gap and diverts material into the components during filling of the container by pouring. To detach the container the machine is run on to the rearwardly extending arms 29 of a plate 28 and the sleeve 7 is operated to disengage the slots 13 from studs 14 and so deposit the container on plate 28. If the notches 25 are omitted and the components are placed slightly further apart, then the machine may be used for marking parallel lines.
