Abstract

703,403. Impregnating porous castings. ROLLS-ROYCE, Ltd. Sept. 14, 1951 [Sept. 14, 1950], No. 22613/50. Class 140 The pores in aluminium or magnesium alloy castings are filled by impregnating the castings with an aqueous solution of sodium silicate to which has been added potassium dichromate and chromic acid. The solution may be applied in a vacuum autoclave, pressure being applied after the castings are completely covered with the solution which may be heated.
