702,378. Measuring temperature co-efficients. RIV-OFFICINE DI VILLAR PEROSA SOC. PER AZIONI. Sept. 17, 1952 [Sept. 20, 1951], No. 23363/52. Class 97(3) [Also in Group XXXVIII] Apparatus for determining the " cooling speed/ temperature " characteristic of a quenching bath 1 comprises a silver ball 2 in which is embedded a thermocouple, the ball being plunged into the bath after preheating. The output of the thermocouple is fed via an amplifier 3 to firstly another amplifier 5 to control the movement of a chart 7 in one direction A in accordance with the bath temperature, and secondly through a differentiating circuit 9 and amplifier 8 to control the movement of a pen 11 moving over the chart 7 in a perpendicular direction B in accordance with the rate of change of temperature, i.e. the cooling-speed.
