Class 53 [Also in Group XI] The life-saving jacket light described in the parent Specification is provided with a battery 1 having openings 6 7 for the entry of water to activate the battery, the openings being normally closed by tearoff strips 9, 8. The battery and strips are enclosed in a waterproof cover 11 formed by immersing the whole in a hot dip of thermoplastic material which also covers a part of the leads 2. When the strips 9, 8 are torn off the cover 11 is also broken to expose the openings 6, 7. The lamp casing 4 is provided with a button 5 for attachment to a garment.
