Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula R1CH=N-R2 wherein R1 represents a substituted or unsubstituted thienyl radical and R2 represents a substituted or unsubstituted pyridyl radical. These compounds are prepared by reacting a thiophene aldehyde with an aminopyridine and removing the water formed as the reaction proceeds. Substituents in the thienyl and pyridyl radicals may be alkyl radicals, halogens, nitro groups, alkoxy groups, thioalkyl groups, hydroxyl groups or dialkylamino groups. In examples (1) 2-(2-thenylideneamino) pyridine is obtained by reacting thiophene-2-aldehyde and 2-amino-pyridine with azeotropic distillation of the water formed. Similarly prepared are (2), 2-(3-thenylideneamino)-pyridine; (3), 2-(5-chloro-2-thenylideneamino) pyridine; (4), 4-chloro-2-(2-thenylideneamino) pyridine; (5), 3-(2-thenylideneamino) pyridine; (6) 4-(3-thenylideneamino) pyridine.
