Abstract

A block of cheese is coated with a natural or synthetic wax, e.g. micro-crystalline petroleum wax, and is then enclosed in a wrapper which is lined with an adhesive substance, e.g. lacquer or shellac, adapted to adhere to the coating, whereby the coating is peeled off the cheese when the wrapper is removed. The wrapper is applied by heat and pressure, or is made of shrinkable material, so that it is brought into intimate contact with the coating and the latter is compressed to eliminate air bubbles and holes.
