701,206. Thermometers. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd. Jan. 8, 1951 [Jan. 12, 1950], No. 848/50. Class 97(3) [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXVIII] A device for regulating the flow of gas or vapour in a gas and vapour mixing apparatus by a valve operated by a thermal means in the vapour flowpath has additional thermal means in the flow path for indicating the vapour temperature, the first thermal means operating a device co-operating with the temperature indicating means to warn the operator visually of a mechanical fault in the apparatus. As shown a volatile liquid 1, e.g. an anaesthetic, in a container with a wick 4 gives off vapour which passes through a vaporizing chamber 9 into a chamber 3 where it mixes with air supplied at 6 and passes to an outlet 7 controlled by a check valve 8. Within the chamber 9 are two bimetallic coils 18, 24, responsive to the vapour temperature, the first operating through a tubular rod 16 a valve 34 controlling the inlet of air and a coloured disc 21, and the second through a rod 22 a temperature indicating dial 23 containing slots through which a change of colour produced by the disc 21 gives a warning of abnormal conditions.
