Class 64(1) In a regenerative heat-exchanger in which the checkerwork contains a cluster of vertical passages which are separated from one another along their entire lengths and contain longitudinally extending partitions 4 which are angularly displaced relatively to one another from zone to zone along the length of the passages, passage sections 7 which are free of partitions are provided between the zones. In one form, Fig. 3, the passages are formed by hollow bricks 3, and the partitions by flat elements resting on projections 5. In another form, Fig. 4, the passages and partitions are formed by eight-pointed starshaped elements 3, and the partition free sections by cruciform elements.
