Abstract
700,493. Piezo-electric crystals. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Feb. 25, 1952, No. 4840/52. Class 40 (8) In making a piezo-electric unit, a disc or plate 2 fixed to a connecting lead 1 is fixed to the surface of the crystal 5 by means of a mixture of a thermo-setting resin, set at a temperature of not more than 130‹ C., and a synthetic organic elastomer, an electrode 6 being then applied over the surface of the crystal and the disc 2. The thermo-setting resin is a polyaryl ethylene oxide, and the elastomer is a co-polymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile, or a co-polymer of butadiene and styrene. The resin and the elastomer are mixed in solution and the disc is stuck to the crystal by this solution and the curing of the resin then carried out.
