Abstract

699,961. Glass blowing. MITCHELL, W. B. Jan. 21, 1952 [Nov. 30, 1950], No. 29338/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 56. Relates to hollow glassware machines wherein a gob of molten glass is dropped into the closed halves of an inverted parison mould having a neck ring, the glass being subsequently induced by suction into the neck ring and thereafter blown, whereupon the mould is rotated by 180 degrees to upright position preparatory to the transfer of the parison to the finishing mould. Each of the half-rotations of the support carrying the parison mould and the neck ring are in the nature of a simple harmonic motion, the cam controlling such movement being designed for this purpose. Shock and backlash are avoided at the ends of the half-rotations by the provision of fluid-pressure operated means maintaining a stop on the mould-carrier in contact with one or other of a pair of abutments.
