Abstract

699,431. Venetian blinds. VENETIAN VOGUE, Ltd. Sept. 18, 1952 [Oct. 5, 1951], No. 23240/51. Class 20(iii) A venetian blind of the conventional type is mounted so as to be extensible in a non-vertical posic tion by supporting upper ladder tapes 3 on guide wires 11. A venetian blind comprising the usual laths 2, ladder tapes 3, a tilt rail 4, and a support rail 5 is mounted in the frame 1 of a skylight, Fig. 1, brackets, 6, 7 and tilting mechanism 8 being fixed to a rail 10 which is secured to the skylight framework 1. The lath assembly is supported on two guide wires 11 each of which is anchored at one end to an eyelet 12 screwed into the framework 1, the other end passing through an eyelet 12 at the opposite side of the frame and being connected to a bolt 13, Fig. 5, which is adjusted in a bracket 15 by means of a nut 14. The upper ladder tapes 3 are connected to the support wires 11 by pairs of interlocking rings 16, the laths being operated from the extended position to the nested position by pull cords 17. To connect a pull cord 17 to the support rail a slot 24, which communicates with a hole 25 for the cord, is adapted to receive a pin 26 which passes through the cord, the pin being held in the slot by means of staples 27, Fig. 4. In alternative constructions the tapes may be supported, e.g. on guide rails having runners of the kind used for suspending curtains, springs being disposed between the runners and the ladder tapes if necessary. The guides may be straight or curved.
