Abstract

Compounds are made by reacting adenylic acid or sodium adenylate with one or more components of the Vitamin B complex (including choline), or their acid salts. If free adenylic acid is reacted with an acid salt sodium hydroxide is added subsequently. The reaction takes place in aqueous solution or suspension, preferably with heat, and the product may be obtained solid by evaporation or addition of an organic solvent in which it is insoluble. The inorganic sodium salt may if desired be separated. The reactants are preferably used in stoichiometric proportions. Examples show the preparation of the following: (1) di-nicotinamide adenylate; (2) thiamine adenylate; (3) pyridoxin adenylate; (3) mono and diadenylates of riboflavin; (4) choline adenylate. The process is applicable to both yeast and muscle adenylic acids. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to the use of other adenylates, viz. those of potassium, lithium, magnesium, zinc, manganese, iron, copper, cobalt and calcium. It also includes the subject-matter of Specification 698,864, and also describes products similar to those of that Specification but obtained from members of the Vitamin B series and amino-acids without adenylic acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:Medicinal preparations comprise adenylic acid or sodium adenylate with one or more components of the vitamin B complex (including choline) or their acid salts. The materials may be mixed as a powder to be taken with water, or as tablets or capsules. Alternatively they may be reacted together to give a product which is probably a salt. When free adenylic acid is used with an acid salt, sodium hydroxide is added so that the pH may be suitable for injection. The inorganic sodium salt may be removed if desired. The reactants are preferably used in stoichiometrical proportions. Suitable products are thiamine adenylate, di-nicotin-amide adenylate, pyridoxin adenylate, riboflavin mono- and di-adenylate and choline adenylate. The process is applicable to both yeast and muscle adenylic acids. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to the use of other adenylates, viz., those of potassium, lithium, manganese, zinc, magnesium, iron, copper, cobalt and calcium. It also includes the subject-matter of Specification 698,864, and also describes products similar to those of that Specification but containing members of the vitamin B series and amino-acids without adenylic acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
