Abstract

697,124. Driving belts. WHITTLE, O. L. July 27, 1951 [March 21, 1951], No. 6720/51. Class 80 (i), A fastener for a laminated belt comprises a flat shank 7 formed with lower shoulders supporting a foot 8 threaded over the shank, and with narrower upper shoulders 11 which retain a head 9. The head has a diamond-shaped opening so that it may be passed over the shoulders 11 and then turned to lock thereunder. To prevent subsequent turning, the head 9 may have a projection passing into the belt or a depression receiving the shoulders 11. The latter shoulders may ber formed by tapering the shank or providing a slot therein. The head 9 and foot 8 are preferably curved or have bent edges. According to the Provisional Specification the foot may be spot welded. Specifications 637,627 and 639,060 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 671,406.
