Abstract

695,420. Moulding and retreading tyres. KIMES CORPORATION, H. E. July 3, 1951 [July 3, 1950], No. 15747/51. Class 87 (ii) [Also in Group XXXIV] A chain C of connected resilient U-shaped wire inserts is correctly located in the mould 11 by means of a retaining strip 12 having radially outwardly-converging side walls 15 adapted to be engaged between the ends 9 of opposing legs of said chain. As shown, the strip is secured'to the mould by means of rivets or screws 13, but in a modified construction of mould, Fig. 5 (not shown), the strip is integral with the outer wall E of the mould. The chain comprises a series of bent parts 8 joined at their ends by loops 9. The loops are weakened and break off in use. Only a part of the complete tread-forming mould 11 is shown.
