Abstract
694,652. Shirt collars. HANSEN, S: O. B. Sept. 1, 1950, No. 21613/50. Class 141. A detachable soft double collar 1, Fig. 1, is attached to the neckband 4, Fig. 2, of a shirt by means of two flexible strips 7, e.g. of spring steel, celluloid or whalebone, each provided at one end with a stud hole 12 and adapted to engage in an open hem 5 at each end of the collar band 2 which is without stud holes and shorter than the neckband 4, the protruding ends of each strip 7 also engaging in two spaced pockets 10; 11 with openings 8, 9 at each side of the neckband 4 so that the stud holes 12 register with stud holes 13 provided in the outer pockets 10. Alternatively a fixed stud may replace the stud hole 12 in the righthand strip 7. In order to allow turning of the collar, the collar band 2 at each of the inner ends of the two hems 5 is slit to enable the inner ends of the strips 7 to project on either one side or other of the collar band 2. The end of each strip 7 which is provided with a stud hole 12 may be reinforced by a metal plate 14 and in order to adjust the collar the stud hole in each strip may be formed as two round holes 15, Fig. 3 (not shown), joined by a slit 16, the stud in this case having a flat stem, which, in the case of a stud fixed to one strip 7, is also rotatably mounted on its base.
