Abstract

694,583. Stripping cables. WOLD ELECTRIC TOOLS, Ltd. Nov. 7, 1951 [Nov. 7, 1950], No. 27236/50. Class 36. A device for removing thermoplastic insulation from wires comprises at least one heat conducting severing member 8 having a slot or aperture provided with at least one sharp edge and which is carried, or adapted to be carried, by the shank 2 of a heated tool such as a soldering iron. The device may comprise a clip 1 formed of sheet steel which is secured around the shank 2 and which has a projection 8. Alternatively, the part 8 may be integral with or brazed or welded to the shank 2. In a modified form the part 8 is formed with a sector-shaped aperture instead of or in addition to the notch. The wire to be stripped is inserted in the notch or aperture and rotated so that the insulation is softened and severed, and the device is then drawn towards the end of the wire to remove the severed insulation.
