Abstract

693,748. Refrigerators. ICE WATER DISPENSERS, Ltd., and REFRIGERATION (BLETCHLEY), Ltd. Feb. 27, 1951 [Jan. 16, 1950; Aug. 23, 1950], Nos. 1049/50 and 20904/50. Class 29 [Also in Group XVIII] Apparatus for cooling and dispensing liquids comprises a heat insulated tank 4 within which is disposed a tubular evaporator or cooler arranged in two concentric helical coils 6, 7 extending throughout the height of the tank and connected to a refrigerating unit 3, a water inlet 11<SP>1</SP> to the tank controlled by a hand or foot operated valve 12, a thermostat 23 in the tank, and a mixing valve 16 connected to the water inlet and to a pipe 31 opening into the lower part of the tank, and an outlet pipe 33. The valve 12 is operated by a pedal 18 and supplies water through a pipe 17 to a tube 23 in the tank containing a thermostat bulb and having openings 24 communicating with the tank. The supply of water displaces cooled water through the pipe 31 to the outlet 33. A connection 15 enables the warm inlet water to be mixed in the valve 16 with the cooled water. The thermostat controls the motor of the refrigerating unit. Fruit juices may be supplied by small bore pipes passing through the outlet pipe 33. The coils 6, 7 may be supplied with brine.
