Abstract

693,238. Net fishing. ROUX, R., and GAILLARD, S. P. M. Jan. 1, 1951 [Jan. 6, 1950], No. 88/51. Class 48. A kite for supporting the headrope of a trawl net comprises two members 1, 2 between which the headrope and the netting are disposed and the device has a sharp edge 8-9 disposed in front of the headrope and at right angles to the direction of tow, and formed by the intersection of a dorsal surface 13 and a ventral surface 10. The facing surfaces of the two members are provided with complementary grooves 4, 4a forming a passageway for the headrope and behind the passageway the surfaces are spaced by members 5 to accommodate the netting and allow free movement thereof. The passageway for the rope is of circular section increasing outwardly from the centre and may run obliquely in relation to the sharp edge 8-9. The ventral surface 10 is formed by both members and is located in front of the headrope. The rear end of the kite is of pointed arch shape. The members are secured together by screws 7.
