Abstract

693,211. Type-printing telegraph systems. HET STAATSBEDRIJF DER POSTERIJEN TELEGRAFIE EN TELEFONIE. June 8, 1948 [June 8, 1948], No. 1547/48. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (iii). Class 40 (iii). The system is generally similar to that described in Specification 632,774 in which the operation of the printer at a receiving station is suspended when a mutilated signal is received and the transmitter at that station is operated to send two distinctive control signals, one of which is repeated a number of times, to the station which transmitted the mutilated signal in order to control the transmitter at the latter station to retransmit the signal which had been mutilated in transmission. The present Specification describes the modification and adaptation of that system to carry out the similar operations with the employment of a single control or repeat signal. The character signals and the control signal are of the type in which the ratio of marks to spaces is constant, and the description of the present system relates to the employment of a 8-unit code having four marks and four spaces formed from the basic 5-unit code as described in Specification 632,774. Specifications 419,526, 519,633 and 632,795 also are referred to.
