Abstract
693,088. Heading and gutting fish. ARENCO AKTIEBOLAG. Oct. 2, 1951, No. 22960/51., Class 28 (ii). The head with the attached long gut E is removed from the body of a fish by conveying the fish, broadside on, against lower and upper knives 18 and 20 respectively, in tandem, one or both of which knives also cut through the bone C but leave the tough and flexible gullet D uncut. A bar 19 holds down the advancing fish. The head with attached gut is then pulled away from the body by claws 31 reciprocated by a crank 36, while the body is retained on the conveyer belt by a plate 33. The tip 22 of one cutting edge is higher than the tip 23 of the following cutting edge forming staggered cutting edges along the path of travel of the fish.
