Abstract

691,202. Burglar alarm systems. JOHNSTON, R. S. Aug. 29, 1951 [Aug. 30, 1950], No. 21401/50. Class 118 (i). Relates to burglar and theft alarms in which an electric alarm circuit is normally closed through conductors incorporated in a blind or curtain. which protects a door or other opening, the circuit being broken on disturbance of the curtain. Fig. 1 shows a roller blind in which a wire 17 forming part of the alarm circuit is connected via spring 14 and steel ball 13 to the metal end fitting 9 on the axle of a roller blind. A wire 19, which may be concealed in the seams of the blind, establishes connection between end fitting 9 and a metallic element 22 secured to the drop rod of the blind. Element 22 contacts a socket 24, which is fixed to the frame of the door or window, and connected to the other wire of the alarm circuit. Separation of elements 22 and 24 operates the alarm. A snap fastener fitting may be used in place of elements 22 and 24.
