A descaling head comprises a number of chipping members each of which has, at its operative end, two projections so arranged that after one has worn the other becomes effective. As shown, the head comprises two end plates d between which are pivoted, on pins b, b<SP>1</SP>, b<SP>2</SP>, three sets of chipping members a, a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>2</SP>. Each chipping member has two projections g, g<SP>1</SP> on its working end and may be restricted in pivotal movement by bolts h.
