Abstract

691,116. Measuring heat quantities. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. May 26, 1950 [June 3, 1949], No. 13361/50. Class 97 (iii). A heat quantity meter, e.g. for houses, flats, &c. for heating systems with circulating pumps in which the differential pressure between the flow and return pipes is therefore substantially inversely proportional to the quantity of heating medium flowing around the installation (because of the variation in the number of parallel consumers in action) comprises means for integrating with respect to time the temperature difference between the flow and return pipes, and a correcting device for detecting variations from a predetermined datum value of the differential pressure and for correcting the integration measurement in inverse proportion to such variations. As shown, a differential temperature device 11 is connected between the flow and return pipes 3, 4 of the installation including a circulating pump 2 and radiators 5 and comprises heat feelers 12, 13 connected through capillary tubes 14, 15 to bellows 16, 17 which through toothed bars 19, 18 are coupled to a differential gear, the planet wheel 23 of which sets a control disc 24 in proportion to the temperature difference between the flow and return pipes 3, 4. The disc 24 acts on a multiplying gear, e.g. the variable gear mechanism driven directly by the constant speed-motor, as described in Specification 612,841. A differential pressure sensitive device comprising bellows 27, 28, connected to the flow and return pipes 3, 4, which transmit their movements to a rack 29 rotates a toothed wheel 30 to turn a control disc 31 by amounts proportional to the variations in the pressure difference in the flow and return pipes and is arranged to act, e.g. on the other variable gear mechanism as described in Specification 612,841 to vary the integration inversely as the said variations in the differential pressure.
