Abstract
690,379. Discharging static electricity. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. March 23, 1949 [July 2, 1948], No. 17916/48. Class 35. The trailing edges of aircraft wings, rudder &c. are rounded off short and finished by a beading terminating in a sharp trailing edge to prevent radio interference by static electricity. Parts near the aerial and the aerial itself are finished with an insulating beading which prevents discharge, but in the form shown for parts remote from the aerial, the insulating beading 6 carries discharge needles or pieces of metal foil 5 connected individually or in groups through a resistance 8 to the metal body 1 of the aircraft. In modifications the beading may be made semi-conducting with or without metal discharge and may be roughened. Specification 654,437, [Group XL (c)], is referred to.
